For over a decade, facility management industry has shifted from reactive maintenance to preventative and predictive maintenance. Surprisingly, what’s not discussed in depth is Asset Data Quality necessary to execute modern proactive maintenance strategy. Because accurate asset data wasn’t critical for reactive maintenance strategy, our industry placed low premium to Asset Data quality. However, when deploying preventative and other data driven maintenance strategy, accuracy of Asset Data is critical. In fact, a lack of accurate asset data is often the first and one of the largest obstacles for FMs to shift to an effective PM/PD maintenance strategy.
